Corewell Health was established in 2022 in Michigan. This new health system emerged out of the consolidation of 3 major hospital systems across the state.
Working alongside the Digital Experience UX team, my role involved establishing a functional design system to support the process of building and consolidating content pages across the website.
Challenges
- Integrating new brand system
- Updating existing legacy components
- Addressing inconsistencies with production environment
- Inconsistent component usage and utilization
By building this set of foundational components and guidelines, we were able to align teams and enable a workflow for generating layouts for new and updated content.
Looking forward, our solution allows teams to utilize components consistently, and allows the design and development team to be aligned when adding and enhancing components.
Approach
- Introduce responsive design system with unique layouts across four device sizes
- Establish primitive values and semantic naming system based on brand standards
- Introduce components with matching names and properties across environments
- Create usage guidelines for reference across content, design, and development teams
